The standard DVD and blu-ray versions are most impressive, especially the blu-ray, packed as it is with more than an hour and a half of extras. The movie looks and sounds great in widescreen, presented in the movie’s original 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Again, the blu-ray is best, with a 1080p high definition picture and sound in 5.1 DTS-HD master audio.

The extras on both formats include two substantial ‘making of’ featurettes plus another three shorts: on costumes, auditioning dancers and a retrospective of Michael Jackson.

The blu-ray includes more: two additional vignettes (Thriller and Smooth Criminal), an additional featurette on the making of Smooth Criminal and Sony’s ‘movieIQ’ feature, which links to the internet to provide an interactive playlist.
